I'm using a Firepod (firewire) and seriously consider a Mac purchase.
Also, my current MAC is SLOW and latency is a massive problem when using Ableton. I looked at the MACs on the Ozzie website and it seems that a laptop suitable would be over AUD$2000. I then started thinking about PCs. What do people reckon - Is Ableton just as good on the PC as it is on the Mac. I can use my old Mac for other stuff like iMovie. For a long time, it was assumed Macs were better for artsy stuff, especially video/audio. Fast forward to today, and I find it hard to believe that to be the case. I mean ableton is ableton, so does it really run better on a mac? Any thoughts? ANd if the answer is no, anyone have a good recommendation on a good sound card for a PC to use with.
From reading some of the other threads Vista / Xp need tweaked to be passable, currently using Xp and bandmates and I notice a good deal of latency when using the audio on when recording.
Would this be different in the world of mac since it has built in audio drivers?
Is it due to firewire?
Are there any issues with a firewire audio devices and Mac?
As I have no desire or aptitude to spend countless hours tweaking a pc ,I just want to make music with lots of tracks, and play Live with instruments with Live's effects is Mac the way?
